Apodan moves to Lyngsø Allé in Hørsholm. Apodan currently markets and produces medical equipment with a special focus on wounds, lymphedema, and hygiene. During the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020-2022, Apodan was a supplier of critical equipment to the healthcare system. They ran fast and delivered hygiene products and coronavirus tests to the Danish healthcare system.
Focus on development
2008
Etac in Sweden acquires Immedia A/S, and three years later, the Dutch conglomerate Fagron NV acquires Apodan’s PharmaPackaging business.
Apodan focuses on developing the hygiene business with surface disinfection products, as well as advancing the position of the nursing business in advanced wound care.
In-house production
2000
Apodan A/S expands its range with in-house production of hygiene products. In 1994, nurse Susan M. Skewes, RN, developed an alternative method for a bed bath, and this was the beginning of what we now know as BagBath®.
Since the first “bag bath,” the appearance, bag, and cloth have evolved significantly and have become an integral part of daily patient hygiene in the healthcare system.
The Vind Family
1998
The company was taken over by the Vind family and three employees in the mid-1990s. In 1998, Apodan acquired the company Immedia A/S, which produces and markets moving aids in Denmark.
The previous year, in January 1997, the current owner, Morten Lodberg Petersen, became part of a generational change.
Moves to Amager
1987
Apodan moves to Lergravsvej 63 on Amager.
Apodan primarily markets pharmaceutical packaging (later known as “Apodan PharmaPackaging”) such as pill jars, vials, and similar items to the Nordic market. At this time, Apodan also markets nursing articles and produces and supplies the Labour Inspection Authority’s first aid kits.
Beginning of Apodan A/S
1960
Apodan A/S is founded by John Andreasen on Englandsvej in Kastrup. Apodan imported and sold active pharmaceutical ingredients to Danish pharmacies. At that time, each pharmacy in Denmark had to produce medicines themselves.
The name “Apodan” originated as a combination of “Apotek” (pharmacy) and “Danmark” (Denmark).
In the 1970s, they expanded with the sale of pharmaceutical packaging.
